Feature Friday: Austin Maness and his '13 Shelby GT500 Super Snake

Each Friday, we feature a different fan and their car(s) on our website, FromCityToCircuit.com. Respond to our Q&A (click here), send us a high-quality photo of you and your car, along with any additional shots of your vehicle, and we'll post our favorites — one each Friday. Please send your responses and photos to stephencook@fromcitytocircuit.com.

This week: Austin Maness from Kansas City, Kansas and his 2013 Shelby GT500 Super Snake.

Tell us about your car: It is a 2013 Shelby GT500 Super Snake with a 5.8L aluminum block V8, 3.6L Kenne Bell supercharger, Wilwood 6 piston brakes, Watts Link, Borla S-type exhaust, 850hp

How did you come to own your car? Carroll Shelby passed away in May of 2012, so I had to have the last production model car that he had input for. I ordered the car while serving in the Army in Afghanistan and picked it up in November 2012. I had the car for a little more than a year, then I took it to Shelby American Inc. in Las Vegas and had the Super Snake package installed. I was able to get serial number 98, which happened to be Carroll's car number when he was a racecar driver.

What do you like to do with your car? I am all about track time on road courses. I have driven the car on 10 different courses including Laguna Seca, Kansas Speedway, Hallett, Spring Mountain, and Gateway. I also enjoy long road trips, the longest being LA to Vancouver, through the Canadian Rockies, every national park out west all the way to Atlanta.

What has been your favorite part about owning your car? I like everything about the car. I have over 50k miles on it and plan to keep going.

What has your car taught you? Respecting the power has been the biggest lesson I have learned from the car. Brakes and tires have kept me alive while driving the beast on the streets and the track.
